THE ASSET

Bright checkerboard floors, square-stud platforms and blocky worlds, all from one material.

Advanced Stud & Checker Material gives UEFN builders a flexible way to create that familiar studded look. Start with a preset, choose your colours and scale the pattern to your scene. It works just as well on a clean platform as it does across a colourful obstacle course, tycoon or playground.

Four surface looks

  • Smooth: clean checkerboard colour with optional grid lines.
  • Raised: square studs with beveled edges and lighting depth.
  • Inset: recessed squares for panels, floors and a different take on the stud pattern.
  • Hybrid: alternating raised and inset squares on the same surface.

Checker colours, grid lines and studs have independent controls, so you can combine the features or keep the surface simple.

Make it fit your map

Choose both checker colours and adjust tile size, grid colour and line width. Refine stud spacing, width, tint, bevel, contact shading and apparent depth. Roughness, metallic and emissive controls let you move from soft plastic colours to metal or glowing accents.

Use world alignment for a pattern that continues across your environment, or object alignment to keep it attached to a moving or rotated mesh. Rotation and offset controls help line it up.

For changing colour, enable the animated rainbow and adjust its speed, band size, hue, saturation and brightness.

What’s included

  • One native UEFN master material with organized, editable parameters.
  • A preset library covering solid colours, metal, rubber, grids, emissive and rainbow variants.
  • 20 curated looks, from classic baseplate colours to neon, ice, gold and hybrid patterns.
  • Four matching mode presets for Smooth, Raised, Inset and Hybrid.
  • Four example meshes: smooth and studded platforms and walls.
  • A showcase environment, example cinematics and material documentation.

Apply a preset to your mesh and customize its material instance. Use the supplied looks as finished surfaces or starting points for your own palette.

Compatibility: UEFN.

Stud depth: The raised and inset detail is produced by the shader and responds to scene lighting. It does not add polygons, displace the mesh or change collision.
